Conditions Treated

Skin conditions we treat virtually

Most everyday skin concerns are well-suited to a video visit. Research shows teledermatology matches in-person care for diagnosing and managing a wide range of conditions — and over 80% of patients don't need a follow-up office visit. Here's what our providers commonly diagnose and treat online — and when we'll connect you with in-person care for a hands-on exam.

Inflammatory

Eczema

Dry, itchy, inflamed skin — often chronic, often flaring with seasons, stress, or allergens.

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) leaves skin dry, itchy, and easily irritated. Flares come and go, and the right routine matters as much as the right medication. Studies show virtual visits are just as effective as in-person care for managing chronic inflammatory skin conditions like eczema. We can prescribe topical steroids or non-steroidal options, recommend moisturizers and bathing habits that actually help, and identify triggers that may be making things worse.

Psoriasis

Thick, scaly patches that build up when the immune system speeds skin cell turnover.

Psoriasis most often appears as raised, scaly plaques on the scalp, elbows, knees, or back. It’s chronic, but it’s manageable — and research confirms that teledermatology achieves equivalent improvements in disease severity and quality of life compared to in-person care. Our providers can prescribe topical steroids, vitamin D analogs, and other prescription treatments — and refer you for specialty therapy (like biologics or phototherapy) when that’s the right next step.

Contact & Seborrheic Dermatitis

Irritated, scaly, or greasy patches triggered by contact with an allergen or by overactive oil glands.

Contact dermatitis is a reaction to something your skin touched — nickel, fragrance, a new product, even poison ivy. Seborrheic dermatitis shows up as flaky, greasy patches on the scalp, face, or chest. Both are among the conditions best suited to virtual diagnosis and respond well to targeted prescription treatment. We’ll help you figure out what to avoid going forward.

Schedule Now

Hives

Raised, itchy welts that can come on suddenly from an allergen, infection, or unknown trigger.

Hives (urticaria) appear as raised, itchy welts that may move around your body and come and go within hours. Some episodes resolve on their own; others persist for weeks and need prescription antihistamines or further workup. A video visit lets us see your skin in real time, treat acute breakouts, and help sort out whether something more is going on.

Schedule Now

Rashes

New, unexplained, or persistent rashes — often diagnosable from a clear photo and a few questions.

Rashes come in countless varieties — some are reactions, some are infections, some are part of a chronic condition surfacing for the first time. A virtual visit is often all it takes to identify what’s going on and start treatment. For the best results, take photos in bright, natural light against a plain background — this helps your provider see exactly what you’re seeing.

Schedule Now

Acne & Rosacea

Acne

Breakouts caused by clogged pores, oil, and bacteria — one of the conditions most successfully managed by video visit.

Whether it shows up as the occasional pimple or as persistent cystic breakouts, acne can affect skin at any age. Acne is one of the most common and effectively treated conditions in teledermatology. Our providers can recommend a prescription regimen — topical retinoids, antibiotics, or oral therapy — tailored to the type and severity of your breakouts. We can also help with the marks and discoloration that linger after acne clears.

Schedule Now

Rosacea

Facial redness, flushing, and bumps that often look like acne but need different treatment.

Rosacea typically appears on the cheeks, nose, and forehead as flushing, persistent redness, or small red bumps. It can be triggered by heat, alcohol, spicy food, and stress. We treat it with prescription topicals like metronidazole or azelaic acid, and when needed, oral medication — plus guidance on the gentle skincare routine that keeps it calm.

Schedule Now

Infectious

Ringworm & Fungal Infections

Itchy, ring-shaped rashes and other fungal infections of the skin, nails, or scalp.

Ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, and nail fungus are caused by common skin fungi — not worms. They’re treatable with antifungal creams for mild cases or prescription oral antifungals for stubborn or widespread infections. We’ll match the treatment to where it is and how long it’s been there.

Schedule Now

Bacterial Skin Infections

Cellulitis, impetigo, and folliculitis — bacterial infections that usually need prompt antibiotics.

Bacterial skin infections like impetigo or folliculitis can usually be treated with topical or oral antibiotics started the same day as your visit. More serious infections (rapidly spreading redness, fever, severe pain) need in-person care — and we’ll tell you clearly if that’s what we’re seeing and help you get there fast.

Schedule Now

Cold Sores & Shingles

Viral skin outbreaks — cold sores, shingles, and other herpesvirus reactivations.

Cold sores around the lips and shingles along a nerve line are both caused by herpesviruses. Antiviral medication works best when started early — sometimes within hours — so a quick virtual visit is the right tool. Same-day treatment is one of the biggest advantages of teledermatology, and we can prescribe what you need in most cases.

Schedule Now

Warts & Molluscum

Common, plantar, and flat warts plus molluscum contagiosum — small viral bumps on the skin.

Warts and molluscum are caused by skin viruses and tend to spread on the same person or between household members. Many clear on their own, but treatment shortens the course. We can prescribe topical therapy and walk you through home steps to keep them from spreading. If in-office treatment like cryotherapy is needed, we’ll arrange that for you.

Schedule Now

Pigmentary Disorders

Melasma, Vitiligo & Hyperpigmentation

Uneven skin tone, dark patches, or loss of pigment — including melasma, vitiligo, and post-inflammatory marks.

Pigment changes have many causes, from hormones and sun exposure to inflammation left behind by acne or a rash. We can help sort out melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and vitiligo, then build a plan that may include prescription lightening agents, topical treatments, and daily sun protection. Photos taken in bright, even light let us track progress visit to visit — and research shows consistent photo quality is key to monitoring these conditions over time.

Schedule Now

Solar Lentigines (Sun Spots)

Flat brown "age" or "liver" spots from years of sun exposure, usually on the face, hands, and shoulders.

Solar lentigines are harmless dark spots that develop where skin has seen the most sun over the years. They’re cosmetic rather than dangerous, but they can resemble other pigmented growths, so it’s worth having them looked at. We can confirm what they are, talk through topical and in-office lightening options, and flag anything that should be examined in person.

Schedule Now

Benign Neoplasms & Growths

Seborrheic Keratosis

Waxy, "stuck-on" brown or tan growths that are very common with age and almost always harmless.

Seborrheic keratoses are benign growths that often look scaly or warty and seem to sit on top of the skin. They’re extremely common as we get older and don’t turn into cancer, but a new or changing one is worth a second look. We can usually identify them from clear photos, reassure you when they’re harmless, and point you toward removal options if they catch or irritate.

Schedule Now

Benign Moles (Melanocytic Nevi)

Ordinary moles — we help tell the harmless ones from spots that deserve an in-person look.

Most moles are benign and stay that way for life. A virtual visit is a good first step to review a mole that’s bothering you or that you’d simply like checked. We’ll look at size, shape, color, and any changes you’ve noticed, offer reassurance when things look typical, and refer you for an in-person exam or biopsy when a closer evaluation is the safer call.

Schedule Now

Skin Tags (Acrochordons)

Soft, small skin-colored flaps that catch on clothing or jewelry — common in folds like the neck and underarms.

Skin tags are harmless little growths that tend to show up where skin rubs against skin or clothing. They’re not dangerous, but they can be a nuisance when they snag or get irritated. We can confirm a tag is what it appears to be, rule out look-alikes, and walk you through simple removal options if you’d like one gone.

Schedule Now

Epidermoid & Sebaceous Cysts

Smooth lumps under the skin that can fill, drain, or become tender and inflamed.

Epidermoid and sebaceous cysts are common, usually harmless lumps that form just beneath the skin. They can stay quiet for years or become red, swollen, and painful if they get inflamed. We can assess what you’re dealing with, treat an inflamed cyst when appropriate, and refer you for in-person drainage or removal when that’s the right step.

Schedule Now

Skin Cancer Screening & Triage

Pigmented Lesion Triage

A first look at a mole or dark spot that worries you — to sort what's reassuring from what needs in-person evaluation.

Don’t wait weeks for an appointment when something concerns you. A video visit is a practical way to triage a pigmented spot and decide how urgently it needs attention. Using clear, well-lit photos, we’ll assess the features that matter and stratify the risk. Suspicious lesions still require an in-person biopsy — and when that’s the case, we’ll get you connected quickly rather than waiting.

Schedule Now

Actinic Keratoses

Rough, scaly sun-damage spots that can be precancerous — worth catching and treating early.

Actinic keratoses are dry, scaly patches caused by long-term sun exposure, and a small share can progress toward skin cancer if left alone. We can review the areas that concern you, talk through prescription topical treatments, and recommend in-person procedures like cryotherapy when that’s the better option. Sun protection is a key part of keeping new ones from forming.

Schedule Now

Basal Cell Carcinoma — Triage

Initial assessment of a slow-growing, often pearly or non-healing spot that could be the most common skin cancer.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common skin cancer and is highly treatable when caught early. A virtual visit lets us perform an initial assessment of a suspicious, non-healing, or slowly changing spot and decide on next steps. Diagnosis is confirmed with an in-person biopsy, so when something looks concerning we’ll move quickly to get you the hands-on evaluation and treatment you need.

Schedule Now

Other

Dry & Sensitive Skin

Persistent dryness, cracking, or sensitivity that isn't responding to over-the-counter moisturizers.

When dry skin won’t quit no matter how much lotion you use, there’s usually something underneath — eczema, an irritant exposure, a barrier issue, or sometimes a medication side effect. We’ll help you sort out what’s driving it and put together a routine (and, if needed, a prescription) that actually holds.

Schedule Now

Hair & Scalp Concerns

Hair thinning, dandruff, and other scalp conditions — evaluated and treated virtually.

Hair shedding, thinning patches, an itchy scalp, or stubborn dandruff are all reasons people come to us. We can prescribe topical and oral options for hair loss when appropriate, treat scalp conditions like seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis, and let you know when a problem warrants an in-person workup.

Schedule Now

Anti-Aging & Skin Health

Prescription strategies for fine lines, sun damage, and overall skin tone — without going under a needle.

Prescription-strength retinoids and other topical therapies can do a lot for fine lines, sun damage, and skin texture over time. We’ll talk through what’s realistic, what’s covered (anti-aging cosmetics generally aren’t), and how to layer products without irritating your skin.

Photo tips for the best virtual visit

Great photos lead to better diagnoses. Before your visit:

  • Use bright, natural light — avoid flash, which can wash out details
  • Choose a plain, non-white background
  • Take one wide shot and one close-up of the area
  • Hold your phone steady and tap to focus before snapping
  • Include a ruler or coin for scale if you can
